moviegroupies uses passwordless sign-in. Enter your email, and we send you a one-time link — click it and you're in. No password to create, remember, or leak.

Check your spam folder first. Links expire after a while, so if it's been a bit, just request a new one from the sign-in page. If you have a token instead of a working link, you can paste it directly on the "enter token" page.

Yes, it's currently free for personal use. Every account gets generous limits on list size, number of lists, and group members — enough for typical use without hitting a wall.

Yes. Everyone gets a default list to start, and you can create additional named lists — for example, one for movies with friends and one for a specific genre kick. Your default list is also where all your ratings, wants, and comments are kept.

Lists are private unless explicitly shared with a group (or multiple groups).

Rating (1–5 stars) is for movies you've already seen. "Want" flags something you're planning to watch. You can also leave a comment on any item, seen or not.

Titles, posters, and overview info come from TMDB (The Movie Database), a third-party movie data source. We link out to TMDB, IMDb, and Rotten Tomatoes pages when available.

Pre-built lists like the IMDb Top 250 or the New York Times' 100 Best Movies. You can browse them and import any of them straight into your own watchlist.

A group is a way to share a movie list with other people. Members can see each other's ratings and comments on shared lists — handy for deciding what to watch together.

Lists and groups mix and match freely — share one list with several groups, share several lists with one group, or keep any list private. Whatever combination fits how you actually watch movies with people.

From the group page, enter their email. If they're new to moviegroupies, they'll get an email inviting them to sign up and join; existing users get a link straight to the invitation.

You can also generate a shareable join link (token) instead — anyone with the link can join the group without an email invite.

Yes — join or create as many groups as you like, up to your account's limit. Switch between them from the groups menu.
